Maya Dunietz has a long history with Elvis’ hit. Twenty years ago, Dunietz and her collaborators sang Love me Tender at every warm up ritual of “Givol Choir” - Dunietz’s major experimental vocal project. The group members would stand in a circle, taking turns massaging each other’s backs while singing the song. Yuval Tuby Zolotov, the great tuba player featured on this track, was one of the original members of the choir.

The track starts with a nonchalant piano solo, not yet revealing the melody. On the second chorus, a warm, sweet brass band freely plays the theme. In the B-part, trumpet master, Avishai Cohen, takes over with a perfect unforgettable delivery. And then, the final tuba solo, which is a simple heart-melting moment of serenity, ends with a wonderful ensemble “oh-yeah” topped with a tiny ‘Chico Marx’ piano phrase to close it all.
